wampus, n. U.S. slang.|ˈwɒmpəs, ˈwæmpəs| [Of uncertain origin; perh. shortened f. catawampus n. s.v. catawampous a. Cf. also rumpus n., wump n.] An objectionable, bad-tempered, or loutish person.
