单词 regosol
释义 regosol Soil Sci.|ˈrɛgəʊsɒl|
[erron. f. as regolith + -sol.]
A poorly developed soil without definite horizons, overlying and formed from deep, unconsolidated deposits such as sand or loess.
1949Thorp & Smith in Soil Sci. LXVII. 120 Soon after the definition of Lithosols was published in the 1938 Year⁓book, it was realized that many weakly developed soils occur in deep soft-rock deposits, like loess and sand, that are not stony in the ordinary sense of the word. These nonstony soils were called lithosols for a time, but a practical need was felt for distinguishing deep soft soil materials from very stony ones. Hence the proposal of the name Regosol. This new term is not yet fully established in the literature, and it may prove desirable eventually to give the concept some other status than that of a great soil group.1968R. W. Fairbridge Encycl. Geomorphol. 523/1 Soil scientists sometimes use ‘regosol’ for soils developed without distinct horizons over deep unconsolidated ‘rock’, e.g., a mature alluvial formation.1976Sci. Amer. Sept. 174/3, ·7 billion hectares of sandy, undifferentiated soils called regosols are nonarable.
Hence regoˈsolic a.
1956Proc. Soil Sci. Soc. Amer. XX. 268/2 The Iowan loess is separated from the Farmdale loess by a regosolic buried soil.
