[Zulu. Cognate forms are found in other Bantu langs. (see quot. 1937); also Bondei, Zegua, Nguru m-gosi, Karanga a-hosi man, Gogo mu-gosi chief.]
a. The royal title of a Zulu ruler.
b. A chief, lord; in which sense also used as a title of respect.

Hence inkosikazi (9 inquosegose, etc.), (a) the wife of a chief; (b) native name for a white married woman.
