vivianite Min.|ˈvɪvɪənaɪt| [f. the name of the discoverer, John Henry Vivian (1785–1855), of Truro and Swansea; named by Werner, 1817.] A phosphate of iron usually occurring in crystals of blue and green colour.

Min. 238 Phosphate of Iron, Vivianite,..is of various shades of blue and green, sometimes bluish-green. 1867Bloxam Chem. 324 The phosphates of protoxide and sesquioxide of iron are found associated in the mineral known as vivianite or native Prussian blue. 1884Times (weekly ed.) 19 Sept. 3/3 A small gold coin, doubled up, was found within a lump of bone and vivianite. Hence ˈvivianitized a., encrusted with vivianite.
