vinblastine Pharm.|vɪnˈblæstiːn| [f. mod.L. Vin-ca, former generic name (see periwinkle1) + leuco)blast s.v. leuco- + -ine5.] A cytotoxic alkaloid, C46H58N4O9, obtained from the periwinkle Catharanthus roseus and administered intravenously (usu. as the sulphate) in the treatment of lymphomas and other cancers.
