1. Min. A variety of anorthite found in India, where it forms the matrix of corundum.
1814T. Allan Min. Nomen. 18 (Chester). 1873Proc. Amer. Phil. Soc. XIII. 375 A white, grayish and reddish variety of anorthite, called indianite.
2. Name given to a solution of caoutchouc or indian-rubber. (Cf. vulcanite.)
