verruga Path.|vɛˈruːgə| [a. Sp. (also Pg. and Prov.) verruga wart:—L. verrūca verruca.] The second, chronic stage of an infection by the bacterium Bartonella bacilliformis, characterized by wart-like skin lesions: see Oroya fever; formerly also called Peruvian wart. Also verruga peruana, verruga peruviana [Sp. peruana Peruvian; peruviana, mod.L. rendering of this], and in pl. verrugas.
