althionic, a. Chem.|ælθɪˈɒnɪk| [f. alcohol) + Gr. θεῖον sulphur + -ic.] In althionic acid, C2H4SO4, produced, according to Regnault, by heating alcohol with an excess of strong sulphuric acid.
