valproic, a. Pharm.|vælˈprəʊɪk| [f. valeric a. + propyl + -ic.] 2-Propylpentanoic acid, C8H15OOH, a branched-chain fatty acid; also, a salt of this. Hence valˈproate, a salt of this acid, esp. the sodium salt, an anticonvulsant drug given orally in cases of epilepsy.
