Vallota Bot.|væˈləʊtə| [mod.L., f. the name of the French botanist Antoine Vallot (1594–1671).] A genus of amaryllidaceous plants, characterized by rich scarlet flowers, and consisting of but one species, V. purpurea, the Scarborough lily.
