alprazolam, n. Pharm.|ælˈpreɪzəʊlæm| [f. al- of unknown origin + phenyl n. + triazole n. (elements of the systematic name) + *-azepam.] A long-acting benzodiazepine, C17H13ClN4 , with properties similar to those of diazepam, given orally in tablet form in the treatment of anxiety.
