ˌhypoparaˈthyroidism Med.
[f. hypo- + parathyroid + -ism.]
A condition in which there is an abnormally low level of parathyroid hormone in the blood, resulting in hypocalcæmia and hyperphosphatæmia with consequent tetany and other signs of neuro-muscular excitability.
