hyphomycetes, n. pl. Bot.|ˌhaɪfəʊmaɪˈsiːtiːz, -ts| Also in sing. form hyphomycete. [mod.L. (E. M. Fries Systema Mycologicum (1821) I. p. xxx), f. Gr. ὑϕή web + µύκητες fungi.] Imperfect fungi of the group Hyphomycetes; filamentous moulds bearing naked, asexual spores.
