‖ uraˈtosis Path. [f. as prec. + -osis.] A morbid condition of health resulting from the deposit of urates in the tissues or fluids of the body.
1890Sir W. Roberts in Lancet 29 Nov. 1162/1 He ventured to suggest that uratic precipitation..should be known by the name of ‘uratosis’. 1897Allbutt's Syst. Med. II. 981 He [Sir Wm. Roberts] believes that both the gouty diathesis and lead poisoning have the same tendency (for which he has coined the word ‘uratosis’) to precipitate crystalline urates in the tissues or fluids of the body.
