‖ hydrophthalmia Path.|ˌhaɪdrɒfˈθælmɪə| Also (anglicized) ˈhydrophˌthalmy. [f. hydro- b + ophthalmia.] ‘Expansion of the whole eye with increase of its fluid contents’ (Syd. Soc. Lex.). Hence hydrophˈthalmic a., ‘of or belonging to hydrophthalmia’ (Mayne Expos. Lex. 1855).
