† hyˈdroguret Chem. Obs. [f. hydrog-en + -uret (after sulphuret).] A compound of hydrogen with another element; a hydruret or hydride.
1819Pantologia, Hydrogurets, substances formed by the union of hydrogen gas with such combustible bodies as were deemed simple when the name was imposed. 1886Syd. Soc. Lex. s.v., A hydroguret is usually designated by a name taken from the other substance of the combination, as the hydroguret of carbon is called Carburetted hydrogen. So † hyˈdroguretted a., chemically combined with hydrogen.
