The name of John Huxham (1692–1768), English physician, used in the possessive in Huxham's tincture (of bark), compound tincture of cinchona bark, first described in Huxham's Essay on Fevers (1750) and formerly used as a bitter tonic and febrifuge; also ellipt. as Huxham.
