ˈhurt-sickle [tr. med.L. blaptisecula, f. Gr. βλάπτ-ειν to hurt + L. secula sickle.] A name for the Corn Bluebottle (Centaurea Cyanus), which grows among corn, and is apt to injure the edge of the sickle with its hard tough stem.
