humongous, a. slang (orig. U.S.). (hjuːˈmʌŋgəs, U.S. -mɑŋgəs) Also humungous. [Of uncertain origin: prob. a factitious adjective coined on -ous, influenced by hugeous a., monstrous a., and perh. the stress-patterns of stupendous a., tremendous a., etc.] Extremely large; huge, enormous.
