Hubshee, n. and a.|ˈhʌbʃiː| Also 7 Abbasie, Hobsy, 8 Hobshy, -ee, Habashi, 9 Haffshee, Hubshi. [Pers. ḥabšī, Arab. ḥabašī, of or belonging to Habesh or Abyssinia.] A. n. An Ethiopian, an Abyssinian. B. adj. Ethiopian, Abyssinian. In Anglo-Indian usage both n. and adj. may be loosely applied to an African Negro (see quot. 1901).
