howlite Min.|ˈhaʊlaɪt| [f. the name of Henry How (d. 1879), mineralogist of Nova Scotia, who first described it: see -lite.] A hydrated calcium borosilicate, Ca2B5SiO9(OH)5, that typically occurs as white nodules forming compact structureless masses resembling unglazed porcelain.
