▪ I. † housling, vbl. n. [? error for housing, from house v.1 4 c; cf. housy.] The growing of the hop-bine into a dense mass at the top of the poles.
1669Worlidge Syst. Agric. viii. §1. 128 Let the Poles lean outward the one from the other..to prevent housling as they term it..that is, they will grow one amongst another, and cause so great a shade that you will have more Hawm than Hops.
