homoiousian, a. and n. Theol.|hɒmɔɪˈaʊsɪən, -ˈuːsɪən| [f. Gr. ὁµοιούσι-ος of like essence (f. ὅµοιος like, similar + οὐσία essence) + -an.] A. adj. a. Of like essence or substance. b. Relating to or maintaining likeness (as distinct from identity and from difference) of substance between the Father and the Son: see B. (Distinguished from heteroousian and homoousian.)
