homegirl, n. slang (orig. and chiefly U.S., esp. Black English).|ˈhəʊmˌgɜːl| Also home-girl, home girl. [f. home n.1 + girl n.; cf. homeboy n.] a. A woman or girl from one's home town, region, or neighbourhood; hence, a friend or associate, esp. one who has a similar background; a member of one's peer group. Sometimes used as a form of address. Also attrib. Since the early 1980s the term has been strongly associated in the U.S. and the U.K. with the hip-hop subculture.
