OF. holier, holer, huler (later also houlleur), var. of horier, hourier, hurier, ad. OHG. huorari, huareri (MHG. huorer, Ger. hurer), whorer, fornicator. The first r became l in OF. by dissimilation, as in peregrinus, pelegrin, pilgrim.] A fornicator, whoremonger; a debauchee, ribald.
