allodapine, a. and n. Ent.|æləʊˈdeɪpaɪn| [f. mod.L. genus name Allodape (coined in P. A. Latreille et al. Encycl. Méthodique (Histoire Naturelle) (1825) x. 19/1), f. Gr. ἀλλοδαπός foreign: see -ine1.] A. adj. Of or belonging to the genus Allodape or the subfamily Allodapinae of primitively social bees, which rear the broods of several females communally in unsealed burrows and some of which are parasitic in other bee colonies. B. n. An allodapine bee.
