▪ I. unˈsightly, a. [un-1 7. Cf. MDu. onsicht(e)lijc, -lic (Du. † onzichtelijk), invisible, ugly, MLG. unsichtlik, MHG. unsihtlîh, -lîch invisible.] Unpleasing to the eye; unhandsome, ugly. In first quot. perhaps = ‘unable to see’.
