The hydrocarbon radical C6H13. It may exist in various forms, of which normal hexyl is also called caproyl. attrib. as in hexyl alcohol, hexyl aldehyde; Comb. as in heˈxylamine; hexylreˈsorcinol (also as two words), a crystalline derivative of resorcinol, C6H3(OH)2·(CH2)5CH3, used as an anthelmintic and a urinary antiseptic.
