heroon Gr. Antiq.|hɪˈrəʊɒn| Pl. -a. Also heröon, heroum. [L. heroum, a. Gr. ἡρῷον, f. ἡρώιος of a hero, f. ἥρως hero.] A sepulchral monument in the form of a small temple; orig. a temple or sanctuary dedicated to a hero, often over his supposed tomb.
