henna tattoo, n. Brit. |ˈhɛnə təˌtuː|, |ˈhɛnə taˌtuː|, U.S. |ˈhɛnə tæˈtu| [‹ henna n. + tattoo n.2] A temporary tattoo made using a henna paste. Cf. mehndi n. 2. Although traditional in North Africa, the Middle East, and South Asia, during the 1990s henna tattoos became popular elsewhere.
