hemicycle|ˈhɛmɪsaɪk(ə)l| Also 7 -cicle. [a. F. hémicycle (1557 in Hatz.-Darm.), ad. L. hēmicyclium, a. Gr. ἡµικύκλιον, f. ἡµι- hemi + κύκλος circle.] A half circle, semicircle; a semicircular structure, as an orchestra or apse-like recess.
