hedonism|ˈhiːdənɪz(ə)m| [f. Gr. ἡδονή pleasure + -ism. Cf. F. hédonisme (Littré Suppl.).] The doctrine or theory of ethics in which pleasure is regarded as the chief good, or the proper end of action.
