harmotome Min.|ˈhɑːmətəʊm| Also erron. harmotone. [a. F. harmotome (Haüy), f. Gr. ἁρµός joint + -τοµος cutting; app. in reference to the fact that the octahedron divides parallel to the plane that passes through the terminal edges.] A hydrous silicate of aluminium and barium, commonly occurring in cruciform twin crystals of various colours. Also called cross-stone.
