harmonichord|hɑːˈmɒnɪkɔːd| [ad. F. harmonicorde, f. harmonium + corde chord.] A keyboard instrument invented by Kaufmann in 1810, in which the tone (resembling that of a violin) was produced by the friction of a revolving cylinder, charged with rosin, against the strings.
