half-pipe, n. Brit. |ˈhɑːfpʌɪp|, U.S. |ˈhæfˌpaɪp| [‹ half- comb. form + pipe n.1] 1. A pipe that is half full of tobacco, etc.; a quantity of tobacco, etc., sufficient to half-fill a pipe. In quot. a 1625, the reference is probably to cheap, poor-quality tobacco smoked in small quantities on account of poverty.
