1. A kind of pin used in dressing and fastening up the hair, fixing a head-dress, etc.

2. A jocular word for: a person. Also, a thin person. slang (orig. U.S.).

3. In full hairpin bend, hairpin corner, etc. A sharp bend in a road or course likened to a hairpin in form.
