a. A lightweight crossbow designed to shoot stones or bullets rather than bolts; cf. arbalest n. and stone-bow n. Obs. exc. Hist.
b. The bow or bow assembly of a modern crossbow.
The MS should prob. be interpreted as reading ‘[components of] Crosbows called Rodds’, in which case the first sense is not based on historical evidence.
