The name of the caves in Liguria, Italy, where the skeletons of a type of Upper Palæolithic man were found by Emile Rivière in 1872, used attrib. as in Grimaldi skull. Hence Griˈmaldian a., pertaining to or characteristic of Grimaldi man or of this culture.
