Geol. ii. ii. iii. 90 Vogelsang has proposed to classify this type [Porphyritic] in three divisions: 1st, Granophyre, where the ground-mass is a microscopic crystalline mixture of the component minerals, with a sparing development of an imperfectly individualized magma; 2nd, Felsophyre,..; 3rd, Vitrophyre. 1885[see Granite-porphyry]. 1894Naturalist Mag. 298/16 Buttermere granophyres, Yewdale breccias [etc.]. 1897Geikie Anc.
