umzimbeet S. Afr.|ʊmzɪmˈbiːt| Also umzimbit(i). [a. Xhosa umSimbithi ironwood.] A South African tree, Millettia grandis or M. caffra (family Leguminosæ), which bears clusters of pink or purple flowers, may be evergreen or deciduous, and has very heavy, hard wood; the wood itself.
