gnomology|nəʊˈmɒlədʒɪ| [ad. Gr. γνωµολογία the uttering or collecting of gnomes, f. γνώµη gnome1 + -λογία discoursing, collection, f. λογ-, λεγ- to say, to collect: see -logy.] 1. A collection of general maxims or precepts.
