Udmurt, n.|ˈʊdmʊət| [a. Russ. Udmurt, a. Udmurt Ud murt (self-designation), f. Ud the region of Vyatsk + murt man; cf. Votyak n. (a.).] a. (A member of) a Finno-Ugrian people inhabiting the Ural mountain region of the Udmurt Autonomous Republic in Russia. Udmurt superseded Votyak as the official name of the Republic in 1932.
