glasswort|ˈglɑːswɜːt, -æ-| A name for certain plants containing a large amount of alkali, and on that account formerly used in the manufacture of glass. a. A plant of the genus Salicornia, esp. S. herbacea; called also jointed glasswort. b. Salsola Kali; called also prickly glasswort.
