geraniol Chem.|dʒəˈreɪnɪɒl| [a. G. geraniol (O. Jacobsen 1871, in Ann. d. Chem. und Pharm. CLVII. 234), f. geranium + -ol.] A colourless oil with a fragrance of roses that is present in many essential oils (as geranium oil and rose oil) and is used extensively in perfumery; it is an open-chain primary alcohol of the terpene series, C10H18O.
