geranial Chem.|dʒəˈreɪnɪəl| [a. G. geranial (F. W. Semmler 1891, in Ber. d. Deut. Chem. Ges. XXIV. 201), f. geraniumaldehyde.] A fragrant colourless oil present in many essential oils (as lemon-grass oil) and used extensively in perfumery as citral, of which it is the trans form; it is the aldehyde, C10H16O, corresponding to geraniol.
