Turonēs, later Turonī, Turoniī, a people of ancient Gaul, whence Tours on the Loire took its name), with ending assimilated to OF. torneis (F. tournois Tournois a.).] a. n. pl. The people or citizens of Tours. b. adj. Of or pertaining to Tours; = Tournois. The sing. form Turoney employed by Trevisa is irregular. Both Trevisa and the anonymous translator of Higden also employ the Latin ending -ens(e.
