‖ Geisteswissenschaft|ˈgaɪstəsˌvɪsənʃaft| Pl. Geisteswissenschaften. [G., f. geist spirit (see ghost n.) + wissenschaft learning (wissen to know).] Usu. in pl., the arts of humanities, opp. ‘the sciences’. So ˈGeistesˌwissenschaftler, one who studies the arts or humanities.
