agrobacterium|ˌægrɒbækˈtɪərɪəm| Also Agro-. Pl. -ia. [mod.L. (H. J. Conn 1942, in Jrnl. Bacteriol. XLIV. 359), f. agro- + bacterium.] A bacterium of the genus Agrobacterium, which includes Gram-negative aerobic rods found in soil, several of which cause plant galls.
