† aˈgonyclite Obs. [ad. L. agonyclita, a. Gr. ἀγονυκλίτης, f. ἀ not + γόνυ knee + -κλιτ-ος bending, f. vbl. stem κλιν- bend.] ‘Hereticks, in the seventh century, whose distinguishing tenet was, never to kneel, but to deliver their prayers standing.’ Bailey.
