aglycone Chem.|əˈglaɪkəʊn| [ad. G. aglykon (A. Windaus et al. 1925, in Zeitschr. f. Physiol. Chemie CXLV. 38), f. a- 14 + glyco- + -one.] The portion of a glycoside which remains when the sugar component is removed; called an aˈglucone when the sugar involved is glucose.
